Harbour Point Building Fire 10 16 2010

What a Faith Building Experience "referring to the Harbour Pointe Ward Building Arson"

Hey Everyone!

I'm not even sure how to begin this one...as I read the headline of Dad's E-Mail, I had no idea what to expect! How grateful and blessed we truly are though that no one was actually inside the building at the time. I can't even express to you my sadness for this...I'm sitting here in my chair, at the computer right now...just staring...not knowing what to say. What puzzles me is who in their right mind who ever even think of doing such a thing. As I was looking at the pictures Dad sent, I can't help but shed some tears for the building I've attended since I was 8 years old. I know, however, without a doubt in my mind that we WILL get through this. We ARE on the Lord's side, and He loves us more than we can ever even imagine! There is nothing He will put in front of us that He knows we cannot handle. This is only a small minor setback. People can take away our building, but they can NEVER take away our faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! How lucky we are to be members of His only true Church. "Shall we not go forth in so great a cause?" That has always been one of my favorite quotes since I've been out here and it has gotten me through so many trials, hardships, and discrimination. We CAN and we WILL get through this! That's pretty sweet you guys were on the news though! I started cracking up when I was reading Dad's part on the reporters and he mentioned Jesse Jones from King 5 news! Haha! Oh man, those were the days! I was also able to pull up the pictures and show all the Elders around me, and they couldn't believe it! They were almost as floored as I was! My stomach is just in knots right now, but I know I'll eventually get over it. So, where does that mean Seminary is now? Are all the other Ward events at the Everett building too? Man, so much stuff is gonna have to change! When are they thinking of being done building the new one?! That's the real question! Oh boy, the things that happen while all the previous Young Men are on Missions! It's interesting to think that every other Missionary from our Ward is gonna be hearing about the same exact thing this week! Don't worry, we'll rally together as well. Us -- Missionaries in the field, will hold it down in the countries/states we're representing and serving! Anyways, on a lighter note...my week has been great! We've met with Steven a lot this past week, finished all the commandments with him, his Baptismal Interview is on Saturday, his Baptism will be announced in Church on Sunday, and his Baptism is next Saturday, with his confirmation the day after in Sacrament Meeting. We're sacrificing our P-Day today to go see the Temple with him, teach him a lesson, and give him a tour of the things he can see in the Temple, as well as the new chapel across the street. This will only build his faith and help him progress that much more. We sadly had one of our longest investigators call us this past week, and cancel her Baptismal date because her mom doesn't want her to get Baptized...she's 26 by the way...it's kinda ridiculous to see how someone that age can't make her own decisions. She's definitely fearing man more than God. Maybe she's just not yet prepared . We still have another with his date for the 13th of November. We teach him with his girlfriend a couple times a week. He's 16, and I don't think I mentioned it earlier, but Steven is 22. I'm happy for all of our investigators because I know Heavenly Father has prepared them in one way or another to receive the Gospel, whether that's all right now, or over time. It doesn't matter, because EVERYTHING is up to our Father in Heaven! ALWAYS! So, anyways, yes, I was able to get a new razor and I love it. I used the money I pulled out to buy it, so that's what that's from. I'm WAY stoked to get a new camera from Stephanie and Bobby since my has some major problems! THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS! I LOVE YOU BOTH! Also, THANK YOU Grandma Carey for the money you sent! I want you to know it will be put to good use for sure! Thank you so much for helping me out with my Mission as well. I can't express how grateful I am for you and your support for me being out here. I love you Grandma! Of course I remember Elder John Pierce! I can't believe he had to come home! That's really a bummer, but it's ok because he can carry on the work there in other ways. Those were fun times working out with him at the gym at BYUI and hanging out outside of class! Oh, and of course the dances! I know he remembers those! You should let him know I'll be ready to go again once I get back! Thank you so much for the Birthday wishes! I love you guys so very much and I appreciate what you do each and every day of my service here in Hong Kong, China! You all mean so much to me and I can't express my love and gratitude enough! FAMILY IS MOST IMPORTANT! THAT IS ONE OF THE MAIN THINGS I'VE LEARNED BEING OUT HERE! I LOVE YOU ALL! Until next week...Do what you do!
Love Always-
Elder Carey
