Happy Birthday Mom

Hey Everyone!

First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! I'm really sorry I wasn't able to be there for it, but I sure hope you could feel my spirit there! Oh, and I also hoped you liked the coach shoes! I picked them out myself...k maybe not, but still. I sent a decent size package home with stuff in their for you and dad and Steph. I hope you enjoy it all on YOUR SPECIAL DAY! My Mephistoes are also in there, and like I said before, just the same size, but new pair cuz the toe is completely thrashed. THANKS! I can definitely relate to school starting cuz it's doing the same exact thing here in Hong Kong! All the boys are girls are headed off each and every morning in their uniforms, which basically EVERY school has you wear, and it's pretty funny to think that the same thing is happening back home! Oh man, do I ever remember those football cards! Haha! I remember when Dad would just buy them all and then I'd have to sell them later! Haha! Oh boy, those were the days. That's so neat you were able to see Luke and Joyce! I'm glad you're still able to keep in contact with them cuz Nick is always going to be my best friend as well as my brother, and what better way than to stay in contact with his family, so I thank you for that, Mom! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! Holy cow that expansion from your office sounds HUGE, Dad! I can't wait to see it when I get back! It seems like everything big is happening while I'm gone! Ha! It's all good though. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else than spreading this true, fulfilling Gospel. I write my E-Mails from the library right across the street from the Church in Ma On Shan. It's pretty convenient. The only problem is that we don't live in our area, kinda like my last area, so we have to travel every single day no matter what it is we wanna do cuz we have to stay in our area. It's not that bad though. Out of the three companionships in the apartment, mine and Elder Oliver's area is by far the best. They all use our Church and things in our area. It's kinda funny. That's pretty cool you guys received a letter from President Chan! Being Senior Companion really is a stretch for me, and my faith, especially considering how long I've been here, but I know with the Lord, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! What a comforting phrase that really truly is! That's so funny that you mentioned what had occured in Mainland, cuz right before I read that, all the other Elders around me shouted out the same exact thing! Haha! How cool is that! CHINA'S GONNA BE OPENING UP REAL SOON! The dinner at Ivars does indeed sound pretty good, but I'm not sure if the fish there is much more fresh than the fish here. Maybe the same...I dunno...you'll just have to see for yourself when you guys come. I already got some WAY good places in mind to take you. Ha! You'll see... This past week for me has been pretty busy actually. Elder Oliver and I had the most member present lessons Ma On Shan Ward has ever seen! So that's quite an accomplishment! Like I said in my last E-Mail, this Ward is incredible! There have been so many miracles this week, I can't even describe to you. Some are only for the journal, but I can definitely share some. One day, we had a recent convert come visit us at the Church while we were doing studies, and he continued to tell us that he had just relapsed last night with smoking. He was in tears and couldn't control himself. After sharing multiple scriptures, one of which was in Alma 7:11 (one of my favorites), bearing powerful Testimony, and building him back up, he himself dumped them down the toilet, and when we got back in the Church, he nearly fell down at the picture of the Savior in tears again. The power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ is THE MOST POWERFUL act performed on this Earth! Without it, we are nothing, our families are nothing, the purpose of life is nothing...I'm sure we can all do a little better at REMEMBERING HIM...He suffered for each and every one of us...loves us equally...knows EXACTLY what we're going through...and pleads for US to the Father when we sin. I love this Gospel you guys. I really truly do. I know it is true through prayer, scripture study, and obvious reasons...I mean look around...how did all of this come about? Only in and through the Priesthood Power of our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ. There is NO OTHER explanation. I promise you all that! If there is one thing I can give you for your Birthday, Mom, it's my love, my constant prayers for you, and my Testimony of this Gospel and ETERNAL FAMILIES! I love you all so deeply and pray for you more than I ever thought possible! Until next week...Do what you do!

Love Always-
Elder Carey
